![]() So far, through our travels, the biggest debate is the burger at Miller's Bar. Whether we're talking to owners of establishments we're reviewing or simply just talking to random people, one thing is for sure: there's much debate about how people feel about the highly acclaimed hamburger at Miller's. It's true that Miller's Bar has won many awards in the metro-Detroit area for their burger. People swear by it. And, there's the other side. We've heard many say that Miller's has the most overrated burger in the metro-Detroit area. So, what do we say? Miller's was actually the very first burger establishment we reviewed in December of 2011. It was the burger that set the tone for all burgers in 2012. After having so many great burgers in 2012, and a few bad ones, it was only proper to repay a visit to where we kick-started our website and a great burger journey. In the last few months, both of us have visited Miller's in an attempt to put this whole debate aside, at least from our point of view. As our December '11 review stands, they sit at an 8.5 for overall taste (5th overall) and a 34 out of 40 for experience (tied for 2nd overall). So, once again, what do we think? It's a GREAT burger, and anyone who says it's overrated needs to have their head examined. Here's why we think it's a great tasting burger (we'll put the experience aside): 1. The Cheese We have had burgers before where they pile the cheese on, but for some reason, the cheese on a Miller's cheeseburger just sticks out. They don't put an overabundance on, but you just can't miss their cheese on each and every bite. They actually put their cheese below the patty, which is something we've only seen at Miller's. Maybe that's the secret? We always tell people that the cheese makes this burger. 2. The Bun They give you no choices and force their plain white bun at you. It's awesome and we're glad they stick to their guns. It's soft and the perfect size. We've had tons of burgers where the bun is just too bready and it overtakes the meat and everything else. A bad bun can ruin the whole thing. The bun at Miller's compliments the delicious meat and cheese. 3. The Meat The demand for burgers is so high at Miller's that they had to go to preformed patties, according to George Motz in Hamburger America. We don't doubt that - when you're in Miller's the entire place smells like burgers and everyone is eating one. They probably have the one preformed patty that we don't mind eating. It's as fresh as it gets and it's a perfect 7oz. It's not seasoned, but tastes delicious. All in all, this burger is something else. Once again, Miller's was the very first burger we reviewed, and after eating tons of burgers throughout the year, and then making it back to our starting point again, we fully support this burger and we hope you do too. The environment at Miller's is second to none. Where else do you pay at the counter on the honor system? What other establishments don't have menus? The uniqueness goes on and on. Let's put the debate to an end. We believe that Miller's is a great place to have a burger. But, what do you think? Use the Comment link below - we'd love to hear from you! Enjoy this slide show courtesy of Kevin and his Dad. They went to pay Miller's a visit before the Pizza Bowl to cheer on Central Michigan University. Apparently, the burger brought CMU good luck as the Chips defeated the Hilltoppers 24-21.
